This page has been created as a practical resource for all in Local, State and Federal Government, for those who work in welfare, and for Veterinarians. It includes links to all Commonwealth and State legislation relevant to companion animals, to relevant Codes of Practice, and to other useful sites with relevant data and information. The links have been created to the websites where the legislation will be kept up to date, so you won’t find out of date material.

Each section starts with a link to all that States legislation, then provides links to the various animal control and animal welfare acts, and to their amendments and regulations, and to codes of practice.

NCCAW Position Statements

The National Consultative Committee on Animal Welfare (NCCAW) position statements are the Committee's national policy statements on animal welfare issues. The statements are derived from sound scientific knowledge and expertise, are developed with extensive consultation with relevant industry bodies and experts and are discussed at NCCAW meetings. Once endorsed by NCCAW,these position statements are submitted to the State and Territory Ministers for their consideration and action as appropriate
